"We are really lucky to have the opportunity for the children to work with such a talented player/coach" - Kayte Gritt, Parent
Unleash the BOOM!
With over 23,700 courts nationwide, badminton is England’s most popular racket sport, with almost ½ million people swinging a racket at least once a week. It’s great exercise to tone up and help stay fit.
My sessions are full of energy and intensity, bringing out the 'BOOM' in every individual. I hold a variety of sessions for a wide range of ages from junior to senior, singles to doubles or group coaching, as well as sponsored initiatives like "This Girl Can", Racket Pack sessions for primary schools, and team building events for small companies and large organisations.
"I can't say how much I enjoy these lessons!" - Thomas Benstead, Junior County Development Player
'This Girl Can' - Coming Soon
For information about times, location, and pricing, please email email@example.com
'This Girl Can' is a celebration of active women who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets. Funded by The National Lottery and developed by Sport England, we want to help women overcome the fear of judgement that is stopping too many women and girls from joining in.
Head Coach at St. John's
At St John's Badminton Club, we provide sessions annually alongside the domestic badminton calendar. They hold a range of groups throughout the week which cater for a wide variety of levels, entering junior players in the local and national tournaments.
I'm the head coach of the club - planning sessions, guiding coaches, supporting players with their developments - as well as playing a lead role in sponsorship deals and business strategy, and I'm immensly proud of what we've achieved in just two years.
"Our junior standards have been raised to higher levels than ever before..." - Nigel Perry, St. Johns Coach
“Lydia is a friendly, knowledgeable coach who offers enjoyable, structured sessions. She has helped me improve a number of aspects of my game in both technical and tactical areas.”
- Dan Shoebridge, St Johns Senior Club Captain
“Lydia is a fantastic coach. She drives the children very hard and brings some real passion for the game into their play. She’s really motivated my daughter to work much harder at her game and stretch herself to really improve. Her professional background in the sport also inspires the children to play. As a coach she is incredibly well organised and committed and great to work with as a parent. We are really lucky to have the opportunity for the children to work with such a talented player/coach.”
- Kayte Gritt, Parent
“Lydia is able to create lessons that I enjoy so much I often don’t realise the skills I’m learning. Her teaching boosts my confidence, she makes me do things I didn’t think I was capable of and she’s always so upbeat which makes me work even harder. She always puts in maximum effort so that I don’t cut corners and she really cares how I am doing both on and off court. She’s my inspiration to improve and push myself so that I can be just like her one day.”
- Dominic Burns, Junior County Player
“Lydia has been coaching me in the last six months. I can't say how much I enjoy these lessons. I feel I have progressed and learnt so much. I am much more confident in myself now and am keen to carry on with my progression with Lydia's help.”
- Thomas Benstead, Junior County Development Player
“Lydia has a natural flair for coaching with her incredible expertise and passion for badminton. She takes time in listening and getting to know her students which I believe is vital for their progression and development.”
- Charlotte Morley, Parent
